          Having worked for both the private and public sector, Dr Nalinee Taveesin noted that she is often taken as an assistant or a secretary because she's a woman and people generally think that a man should be in the top management position.

          "Once you start to do what you have to do, you can overcome any doubts about a woman fulfilling a top management role," she said.

          "And as the TTR, I think it doesn't make a difference whether one is a man or a woman as long as one has the capacity to do the work."

          In this position since last September, Dr Nalinee acts as a special envoy of the Prime Minister and is responsible for integrating and coordinating international trade, investment and economic policies.
