Sylvia Schwartz is a graduate of the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid and resident soprano at Deutsche Staatsoper in Berlin where she has sung Papagena.
She has also worked as a postgraduate student at the Hanns Eisler Conservatory in Berlin under Wolfram Rieger, Thomas Quasthoff and Julia Varady, where she won a ‘Hezekiah Wardwell-Stipendium’ from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
Recent performances include a Lied recital in Barcelona’s Schubertiade, Die Zauberfloete (Papagena) for Sir Colin Davis and the LSO in Madrid and also for Claudio Abbado at the Edinburgh Festival.
In September 2006, Sylvia made her debut at the Teatro alla Scala performing Zerlina in Don Giovanni in a co-production with the Staatsoper conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.
